Dear UMA Members,
We know this goes without saying, but we want to assure you that here at Ultimate Martial Arts, our #1 priority has always been to keep our students, families, and staff safe. This is and has always been our chief cornerstone. For over 25 years, thousands of students have depended on us to be their guide on their journey to accomplish personal, physical, and mental goals, and we are dedicated to honoring that mutual commitment.
Over the past few months, we have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and wanted to take this opportunity to share with you what we are planning and the steps we are to take to protect our students, staff, and guests at our center. Within the following weeks we will be communicating with you via email and updates on our website to keep you informed about when we are reopening and the status of future classes. So please keep an eye out for these messages!
Since pre-pandemic times our center has been professionally cleaned each day. However, out of an abundance of caution, we are taking further actions to enhance our cleaning and safety protocols. These protocols include but are not limited to:
- Consistent disinfecting of training equipment
- Equipment, when applicable, will be laid out for members at the beginning of class
- Consistent disinfectant cleaning of the mats
- Consistent disinfectant wipe down of high-touch surfaces
- Hand sanitizers stationed at easily accessible locations throughout the center
- Anyone entering the center will be required to wear a mask (this will be strictly enforced)
- Anyone entering the center may be checked for fever symptoms with a sanitized non-contact thermometer, and if symptomatic, will be asked to return home
We will also be taking steps to facilitate social distancing within our center. Instructors will limit physical contact with students when correcting techniques as well as student-to-student contact will be limited. For example, we will teach longer ranged self-defense techniques, conduct non-contact sparring, and temporarily retire grappling self defenses. But as we always do, we will end class with a courteous bow instead of handshakes, use air high-fives, thumbs ups, and other non-contact motivational tools to let you know you are doing well. Classes will be as exciting and high-energy as ever!
There will also be some temporary changes to the flow of our waiting rooms. So upon entry look around for signs on the mats, floors, and walls for guidance. Parents and guardians are to drop off their children during the beginning of class and wait outside the building until pick up. If you wish to speak to management we encourage you to continue doing so via email or phone. But in the process of business transactions, renewals/sign-ups, testing registrations, or merchandise purchases make an appointment with us in advance to speak with and assist you in person. That said, all of our service desks will be equipped with shields to ensure your safety and that of our staff.
To avoid complications, if you or anyone in your household is experiencing flu-like symptoms please stay home. In the event that you may need to miss class(es), we will happily provide you with opportunities to make-up any lost classes or time.
It is our goal for our students, families, and staff to both feel and be safe, slowly get back into routine, progress in training, continue to build a strong body and immune system, and for your lives to continue as undisturbed as possible. We are here to help you achieve your goals and will do all we can to get you back on track. Please feel free to contact us as of now only by emailing ultimatemartialarts19@gmail.com with any questions you may have. As always, we deeply value your support, patience, and trust in us and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best regards,
Ultimate Martial Arts Family
